Right well, disregard almost everything I said in my last entry.
I've no family support in my plan to study in London so I'm going to have to take a gap year in the hopes of making enough money to support myself for at least the first year in London. That's a big change of plans. I'm starting to take on some freelance design work and have already completed my first paying project. Though the client butchered my work so I wont be using it for my portfolio. I have some other projects lined up, some paying, some pro-bono. Hopefully I'll get to work on something I'll be proud of soon.
I'm also going to use the year to further my education and get extra qualifications. I'm going to give learning French an honest try (hopefully my school French will be of help) and I'm going to take a FÁS course in web design once I finish my current Fetac. I might do some other relevant courses if I can find any, I'd love to find a good printmaking course.
I got to the final stage in all my UK applications but there's no point in me attending any interviews since UCAS don't let you defer after you've made an application. I'm hoping that, since I got this far with the work I have already, the portfolio and sketchbook that I'll have this time next year (which will be almost entirely design-based) will be enough to get me through the last stage and get me some offers.
Overall it seems like a move in the right direction, I just wish it didn't mean being stuck here for a whole year longer.
